Crochet Bow

This isn't the pattern for the hat, but it's a simple earflap hat, and the ears are done with 4 "circles" crocheted in single crochet, and then sewn together with pieces of plastic canvas in between them. I'd have used milk jug plastic, but I don't buy milk that way, and it's been a while since I went to dad's house to pick up his empties.
The bow is done with worsted weight cotton, and a size F hook. But it will work fine with thread or different sizes of yarn, just use a hook that's a size smaller then recommended, the structure is dependent on it being a little stiff.
First ch does NOT count as first stitch.
dec sc= insert hook in first stitch, draw up loop, insert hook in next stitch, draw up loop, finish stitch as a single crochet using the two loops as one.
Chain 9.
Row 1: Sc in second chain from hook, sc across (8 stitches)
Row 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in each st across to last st, 2 dc in last st (10 sts)
Row 3: ch 1, sc across (10 st)
Row 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, dc in each st across to last st, 2 dc in last st (12 sts)

Row 9: ch 1, sc across (12 sts)
Row 10: ch 1, sc across (12 sts)
Row 11: ch 1, sc across (12 sts)
Row 12: ch 2, dc in each st (12 sts)
Row 13: ch 1, sc across (12 st)
Row 14: ch 2, dc in each st (12 sts)
Row 15: ch 1, sc across (12 sts)
Row 16: ch 2, dc in each st (12 sts)
Row 17: ch 1,dec sc across first two st, sc in next 8 st, dec sc across last 2 sts (10 sts)
Row 18: ch 2, dc in each st (10 sts)
Row 19: ch 1,dec sc across first two st, sc in next 6 st, dec sc across last 2 sts (8 sts)
Row 20: ch 1, sc across (8 sts)

Row 30: ch 1, sc across (12 sts)
Row 31: ch 2, dc in each st (12 sts)
Row 32: ch 1, sc across (12 st)

Row 34: ch 1, sc across (12 sts)
Row 35: ch 2, dc in each st (12 sts)
Row 36: ch 1,dec sc across first two st, sc in next 8 st, dec sc across last 2 sts (10 sts)
Row 37: ch 2, dc in each st (10 sts)
Row 38: ch 1,dec sc across first two st, sc in next 6 st, dec sc across last 2 sts (8 sts)

Break off yarn, leaving a tail about 8 inches long. Stitch the ends together, then fold the bow so the narrow parts meet in the middle, stitch down the middle. Weave in ends.

Bow center:
Ch 7:
Row 1: Sc in second chain from hook, sc across (6 sts)
Row 2-14: ch 1, sc in each st across (6 sts)
Break off leaving a tail to sew close.
Fold center around bow so the ends meet behind the bow, stitch closed. Sew bow to whatever you're decorating with it.
I hope the pattern comes in handy!
