War is Over

Strange days indeed

Mike got me Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign To Save Darfur . I admit, when it comes to John Lennon, I'm more then a bit biased, but I like the whole album. There are some absolute gems to check out though.
Josh Groban's version of Imagine, just because, wow.. that voice.
Willie Nelson's version which you've probably heard on the commercial. I love Willie, I love John Lennon, and I love that song. That's a can't miss combination.
Imagine by Afroreggae is a nice handling of the song that makes it almost danceable.
Nobody Told Me- Abdel Wright is a bouncy version of the song, and my favorite version on the album, although Big and Rich were a lot better I expected.
Power to the People by DJ Emjay and the Ataris is bouncy, poppy and a whole lot of fun, very different then the original, I love the energy of it.
Watching the Wheels has been my favorite song since it came out. The David Usher version is just amazing, thoughtful and so pretty.
Give Peace a Chance by Aerosmith and featuring the Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars is just great. I'm not a big fan of Aerosmith, and I really disliked their version of Come Together, but this was good. Plus it's a whole lot more understandable then the original!
I'm not sure about Love by Audrey de Montigny. It's very strained and emotional, and a bit of the emotion sounds forced, but it's one of my favorite love songs. I'm still deciding if I love this treatment or if it's just tolerable. I think I'd need to be in the right mood for it.
Jackson Browne did a lovely job on Oh My Love, it's simple and pretty, and I still think it's just about the world's most perfect love song.
Beautiful Boy by Freshly Ground is wonderful too. Sweet and lightly sung, it's very soothing to listen to, almost a lullabye.

This weekend, I didn't get much done I'd planned to. I was in a lot of pain all weekend, in fact, I told Mike last night "We are having chili for dinner." since he knows chili is one of his meals. It turned out wonderful. I had a couple bowls of it with a nice sharp cheddar over it. E was less enthused. She wants beef in her chili, but at least she didn't say "It's really kind of horrible" like she did about my chili con non carne with tvp in it.
I *did* have a couple opportunities potentially come up this weekend, so I'll see how that works out.
Yesterday was a bit frustrating, there were some things I really wanted to do, but the pain levels were high enough I felt very accomplished when I finished the dishes.
