Happiness is..

Finding copies of a 25¢ promo issue of Vampirella just when I need it for a project I'm working on.
Speaking of which, and I'll announce this in my other journal too, deadline moved up to Oct 1st because of lack of planning on my part (yeah.. I got spacey and forgot exactly how much I had to do this month and last month)
SOO.. email me. shalas_beads at

Vampirella was one of the first comics I ever read. I wasn't allowed to read comics as a kid because I read too well and Mom thought they would rot my brain or some such, so my favorite uncle used to sneak comics to me and he had strange tastes. Spooky horror comics, Vampirella, that sort of thing. I saw him today and told him about the promo comic, and told him I was using it on the duct tape purse I started earlier this week but hadn't finished for lack of art. He said "So you'll be the coolest kid on the block?" Dad looked at him and said "You've always been a bad influence" Then looked at me and said "Shala, why don't your shoes match?"

I don't know how to explain exactly how cool my uncle is. He's in his 60s, and had his hair down, think Ron Glass from Firefly wild, but held off his face with a wide black headband, pirate gold earrings in both ears because when he got his ears pierced back in the 60s thats how the gang he was hanging out with did it, and wearing his motorcycle leathers for the very good reason he was on his motorcycle.
I really should try harder to stay in touch with him.
