She calls them Leias

With some scraps of bulky alpaca yarn, I crocheted E a pair of earwarmers.

She calls them Leias.

Well.. a pattern would vary by what sort of yarn you use. I used a bulky alpaca, and a size H hook, and what I did was crochet ovals that were pretty wide until they were big enough to cover her ears, then worked one round plain, then decreased the next round, then worked a plain round around a regular sized thin "ouchless" hair elastic.

sc dec= insert hook in first stitch, yarn over, pull through the st, but don't finish the stitch, insert hook in next st, yarn over, pull through stitch, yarn over, pull yarn through all loops on the hook.

So with a size H hook, and bulky alpaca, the pattern was..
Ch 2
Round 1: 6 sc in first chain, sl st to join.
Round 2: ch 1 (doesn't count as first sc) sc in same stitch, 2 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sl st to join (10 sc total)
Round 3: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, sc in next st, sc in next st, , 2 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, sl st to join (14 sts)
Round 4: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, sc in next st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, sl st to join (18 sts)
Round 5: ch 1, 1 sc in each st, sl st to join
Round 6: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next st, sc dec over next 2 st, sc in next st, sc in next st, sc dec over next 2 sts, sc in next st, sc in next st, sc in next st, dec sc over next 2 st, sc in next st, sc in next st, dec sc over next 2 st, sc in next st, sl st to join (14 st)
Round 6, ch 1, hold your hair elastic on the edge, and single crochet around working over the hair elastic, sl st to join, break off, weave in ends.

Well.. that's what works with the yarn and hook size I used anyway, but you'll change it based on what size yarn/hook you use.

E just slides them on her ears, and her hair is so thick, they don't show through it at all, but since they are alpaca, they keep her ears toasty warm. Now I just have to make myself a pair that will fit over my earphones! (I use the clip over the ear kind)
They stay on really well. I was worried about that, but she hasn't had any problems after she puts them on, and she likes them really well because she can keep them in her pocket and have them handy without being too bulky.
