Spangled Pretty

The background is the glittered felt I've been using as backgrounds. I love all the shiny colors in it when it's photographed.

It occurred to me while I was making this,if you used silver paillettes with black thread, it would look a lot like scale maille which makes it perfect for dice bags yes? Or am I stretching too much to find things I can make for my eldest child? I ask you, the game playing people on the list.

The pattern. Which means I have to get up and find my hook, I just realized I'm not sure which size hook I used.

Size E hook
Size 3 type thread, I used a fashion cotton, and it took under one ball.
String thread with 108 paillettes.
Chain 2
Rnd 1: Sc 8 times in first ch, sl st to join.(8 st)
Rnd 2: Ch 1 (doesn't count as first st here and throughout.) 2 sc in each sc around, sl st to join. (16 st)
Rnd 3: ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat around. Sl st to join (24 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1, sc in each st, sl st to join.(24 st)
Rnd 5: ch 1, sc in first 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat around, sl st to join (32 sts)
Rnd 6: ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, repeat around, sl st to join. (40 sts)
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in each st, sl st to join. (40 sts)
Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in first 4 sts, 2 sc in next st. Repeat around, sl st to join. (48 st)
Rnd 9-10: Ch 1, sc in each st, sl st to join
Rnd 11: ch 1, ssc= sequin single crochet, which is insert hook, yo, pull through the stitch leaving 2 loops on the hook, push up sequin, yo, finish stitch, sc in next 3 st, *ssc in next st, sc in next 3 sts*, repeat ** around, sl st to join. (12 ssc)
Rnd 12: Ch 1, sc in next 2 st, ssc in next st, *sc in next 3 st, ssc in next st*, repeat ** around, sc in final st, sl st to join. (12 ssc)
Rnd 13-18: Repeat rounds 11 and 12 for pattern.
Rnd 19: repeat rnd 11.
9 sequin rows total.

Red dots show the paillette placement.
Rnd 20-27: ch 1, sc in each st, sl st to join.
Rnd 28: ch 3 (counts as first dc) dc in next st, *ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in next st, dc in next st* repeat ** around, sl st to join. (12 spaces)
Rnd 29 ch 1, sc in each st, sl st to join.

Drawstrings- Well, make them how you want to,I made 2 short ones. What I did was chain 51, then sl st back up the chain, leaving tails long enough to weave in, strung it through the eyelets in the bag, and then I used a needle to sew the ends together and wove in the ends knotting a few times to make it very secure. Repeat for the second drawstring.
Obviously, modify the pattern as you please, change it, play with it, whatever. Like all my patterns, it's a basic starting place to play.

* About pailletes:These you can order on the internet, but I got a package from Wal*mart.

One pouch took one bag of spangles with the clear AB ones taken out, but since it's weight not count, and it was pretty close, I'd suggest getting two packages. I've heard great things about this place, look at the large hole sequins.Get 2 packages if you are ordering from her. And get me some of the holographic ones. Gosh those are pretty!

Don't forget my brand new without many members yet crochet list.
