Is there any song you'll never grow tired of hearing? If so, what is it, how long have you loved it, and why?

Exile by Blackfire, loved it since I first heard it 3 or 4 years ago.
Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez- live version. I don't remember not loving the song, and the fact From Every Stage came out the same year I was born, it tends to support the idea I never did not love it.
Oh My Love by John Lennon- for a very long time. I have no idea when I started liking it.
Stars and Stripes of Corruption by the Dead Kennedys- mid 80s I think?
Bata Hotel- Crass again, mid 80s I think.
Vivaldi- The Four Seasons. Like nearly every version I can get my hands on. My current favorite is Bond. Loved it my whole life.
Air Supply- Making Love Out of Nothing At All- since it came out, but it's only been the last 4 or 5 years I'd admit it in public.
She's Out of Sync- Devo- 80s.
Cry Me a River- Ella Fitzgerald

Newer songs I can't get enough of?
Laugh/Love/F*** by The Coup - this year, a few months back. I looked up Boots Riley after hearing the first couple of songs Street Sweeper Social Club released
November by S.J. Tucker - since it came out this year following the release of Palimpsest.
Vanilla by Marian Call- 2008
Blake Says- Amanda Palmer - since the song came out
All of Me- Jamie Anderson
Bad Things- Jace Everett
Post Mortem- LaM
Promenade- Street Sweeper Social Club

Exile and All of Me are both available for download for free on the artists website.

Wow. I sort of feel like I stripped by listing my favorite songs. But these are the ones on my "I just want to listen to music I love" playlist. Along with about 800 more songs that do get changed out every so often. Those songs are the keepers.

I recently got a copy of Coolio's cookbook to review for Amazon. You can see my review here and all my book reviews here.
I got some of the thick wool-ease to make my son a scarf with. You know, after working with size 5 needles for the last week or so, it's just incredibly fast working with the size 13s. I forgot how fast and easy chunky yarns really are!
Other than that, celebrating the holidays last wound up being very okay.
The socket set I won in a raffle last year is getting a ton of use. But the car is working! Yay!
Reading a book on soapmaking and another one on making cheese now. I think I'm about ready to try making my own soap.

NCIS
I love NCIS. I admit it. I catch Nova in reruns if new episodes of NCIS are on. *shh* Don't tell. I use the time for crocheting or beading or something, but Tuesday nights, I'm watching NCIS.
Today's MP3 album deal on Amazon is NCIS Vol. 2 Soundtrack which includes The Elements by Tom Leher and a song sung by Michael Weatherly who you may know as either Tony DiNozzo or Logan Cale for 3.99 in MP3 format. Yay.
Threadless is having free shipping INTERNATIONALLY from 10 am CT Nov. 2 to 10 am CT Nov. 3. No minimum purchase.
May I suggest? )

I'll do a real post later. But I wanted to remember to share those before they went away.

But this icon is music related!
Thursday night was Marian Call's last Anchorage concert for a while. So we went there, ate great sustainable organic food, drank wonderful locally produced beers (those of us old enough to drink) and listened to great music.
It was her playing a lot of the music that's going to be on her next album. To all the Pride and Prejudice lovers out there.. she's going to have a long complicated song called Mr. Darcy on the album. For the zombie lovers, she was asked to write the theme song for Zombie Cheerleading Camp, a very wretched looking movie, but if they used her song, it's got a great song in it. Called Out for Blood which she does as a sing-along in her shows. She does a lot more shows in Washington, California et cet than she does here, well worth hitting.
But the song that won my heart is her Avocado Song "You're an avocado baby, you're only good for one day."

And she played Birdhouse in Your Soul. Asked everyone who knew the words to sing-along and you know something? My eldest had no problems. My youngest had problems recognizing it in her arrangement. I giggled really hard and sang happily offkey.

She told us we were becoming super fans. So now Mike wants an MC Sooperphan shirt. I'd settle for a zombie cheerleader shirt.
She also complimented Mike and William on their very cunning hats that R made them.

Yesterday was chat. Plus I worked some on a couple projects I've got going, but my working on things is seriously hampered by the fact my shoulder isn't any better. *grumbles* I have no clue what I did to it except somehow I sprained it badly. Yeah, I know, pay more attention and take better care of myself.

Happy Halloween!

Okay.. 3rd time is the charm right? I keep switching topics for this entry. What do I want to save for posterity on the internets?
E has decided my old favorite of eggs in a basket are a near perfect food. I think having good fresh eggs makes all the difference. What's astounding about this is that E does NOT eat egg whites usually. She likes her eggs scrambled or omelets. She's never eaten a hard-boiled egg in her life.
It started with room service though. The willingness to accept fried eggs. I ordered my breakfast with eggs over medium and Mike had his over easy. E grabbed a piece of buttered toast and popped it in the center of first my eggs, then after that bite, his eggs to get yolk on her toast. I think at that point if she could have gotten just egg yolks cooked to just a bit runny with buttered toast, she would be all over it.
I told her how eggs in the basket were made. Put a pat of butter in a pan, heat it, tear a hole in a piece of bread, and put that in the pan. Crack open an egg and drop it in the hole. Cook a few minutes, flip. Cook a few minutes more. The way my mom and I always made it was with a hole just big enough for the egg yolk so the bread itself gets toasted with buttery-egg whitey goodness.
She said that sounded good, and just loved it. She tore off bits of the bread and dunked it in the slightly runny center. The first time, she left the bit of egg white from the hole in the bread under the yolk on her plate. Last time she grabbed a couple crackers when the bread was gone and put the center on crackers and ate it that way. For that matter, last time I made it, I gave her the choice between a cheese omelet and eggs in a basket, and she chose the egg in a basket.
We are planning to make truffles today. We were going to make them yesterday but I realized I had to clean out the fridge first. We are planning to make vanilla-coffee truffles.
Music- I can't get enough Blackfire today. Blackfire is considered by a lot of people to be NA contemporary, but it's very different from a lot of NA contemporary. It's harder, angrier, political and more than a bit punk. You can download a couple free songs from their site. They are a Navaho family, and an elder member of their family sings traditionally on a lot of their tracks. In fact, the second album, Silence is a Weapon is a two disc set. The second disc is traditional Dine' music. Dine' means Navaho. It's a language that's rooted in Athabaskan, so the songs sound a lot like the songs sung by the few people here who still speak Athabaskan, more complicated though but wonderful to listen to. A lot of NA contemporary is about how we are all one. One reviewed said that Blackfire is angry with a reason. The song Exile always makes me cry angry tears.
I was able to find their first album locally when I got it a few years ago, the second, my husband ordered for me off CD Baby after I had no luck ordering it from a local shop. Also available on all the usual suspects.
Still to do today: Finish the rock I'm crocheting. Write an article linking to various Halloween bead patterns, get comic books, go to the gym.

Wow. I don't know what else to say but WOW.
When we pulled up, I mentioned to Mike quietly, "There's going to be poetry reading tonight too" and as soon as we were out, he locked the doors and acted like he was going to drive off. Then he unlocked the doors and came in with us.
Well, we will start with the cafe. The Tap Root Cafe is a tiny cafe with wooden tables and high stools. There is a bar on one side that takes up nearly half the place, but it's not hard alcohol, just beer and mead and lots of it. Local microbrews on tap in a tiny local restaurant. I love this town. We found a table and sat down and watched Marian and her young and talented guitarist (who's name has completely left my mind) set up.
She came over and introduced herself, and I told her I was a huge fan and there were handshakes all around. She was so nice and after finding out we hadn't been to the Tap Root Cafe before, she recommended the burgers.
So we all ordered burgers. I got a chicken burger dripping with cheese and wrapped in bacon, William got a curry burger of some sort that was served on toasted sourdough, Mike had a mushroom burger, and E had a cheese burger. All we served with a mix of yam and potato fries that were seasoned to perfection. They also have juice and smoothies, everyone got a smoothie except for me. I opted for a Midnight Sun Brewing Co. Panty Peeler.
Mike's smoothie had peanuts or peanut butter in it. I took a sip and so did E and we decided we must make smoothies that was sometime. It was yummy.
My beer was great too. Mike said he preferred the Fallen Angel, but it was very drinkable. Yum yum.
She did her sound check by playing a song and then the music started. She played things off her current albums and SotM (which is afaik, only available on itunes) and things from the album she's working on. She did a very wordy song written to Mr. Darcy about how there might be something fierce when you pull back the polite that was wonderful.
Not really a Browncoat crowd, her songs off Got to Fly still really worked for the audience. "It's Good To Have Jayne On Your Side" became a song about a guy from Spenard, and she invited audience participation. We did enthusiastically. Mike singing out loud very happy to hear his favorite song. People laughed at the right times and were quiet for the thoughtful introspective songs.
She did "I'll Still Be a Geek" playing her typewriter and I just couldn't stop smiling.
The poet, who did a couple readings in between songs was Keith Liles. For all Mike's worry about losing his poetry reading virginity, the poems were modern enough with enough humor to keep him interested. They were funny, introspective, and while starting occasionally with a fairly depressing viewpoint of the world, they ended optimistically. He did one about Superman which just made E laugh with delight for both the words and the fact that Mike was wearing his Superman shirt so people turned to look at him. For Mike, to date, the only poetry he really has liked has been Ernest Cline. He liked Keith Liles too. Maybe I can start getting him to poetry readings that don't have a singer he really likes at them!
We ordered the Aphrodite's Kiss to snack on after our meal was done. Hummus, tabbouleh, cucumbers, almonds, olives, and feta all served with toasted sourdough. E picked it over salsa because she loves hummus. It was the first time everyone but me had tabbouleh. William and E liked it, Mike didn't. Too minty. I ate a few bites just happy as can be. It was bright and perfect.
We also had coffee after dinner while watching the show. At one point there was an odd moment of seeing E up at the bar bouncing to the music waiting for the coffee to get refilled. It was wild seeing my daughter handle herself with so much calm and cool in a situation she was clearly the youngest person at. While it was an all ages show, the guitarist and maybe 4 other people in the packed cafe were William's age, and only E was younger.
During intermission, she gave me a hug and we talked for a few minutes. She is so very nice.
She also played a few covers, including one of my favorite Joni Mitchell songs, Twisted. That was so great. I'd love to have a copy of her singing it.
It was wonderful. I'm glad we went. The cover charge was honor system, and we paid a bit over the suggested amount since I have all her albums already.
Oh! And E wants me to put her songs on her ipod now. *grins* Perfectly happy too.
You can stream her songs from her website and you can buy her albums from all the usual suspects.

Tonight we are going to go see Marian Call perform. It's an all ages show, which is a good thing, we are all ages fans. I invited a friend along, but I'm not sure if she'll make it. She's a music fan though and a big believer in supporting local musicians, so I'm hoping.
Browncoats rejoice, you can get her album Got to Fly in MP3 format from Amazon. If you liked Michelle Dockrey/Vixy and Tony's Mal's Song, you'll love the songs on this album. I reviewed it and why I like it on the Amazon page, and was more than a little surprised to find out I was the first person who reviewed it.
You can read see all my reviews here.
I'm on the Vine program at Amazon, which is pretty spiffy, they send me 4 books a month for free and since it's a limited list, I wind up reading a lot of things that normally wouldn't occur to me. Books on business, lots of juvenile fiction, that sort of thing. Sometimes I pick books I want from the list, other times, if I see something that the kids or Mike would be interested in, I pick that. Because it's not like it takes me long to read a book. Which is why the business/business motivation books are on the list, and why the Sponge Bob Square Pants with the digital voice changer is on the list. (and E loves that voice changer)

I'm really looking forward to the show tonight. I hope she sings my favorite songs!

A Tale of Two Snails with music by one of my daughter's favorite artists. This is notable because until she got hooked on Auriplane's music, mostly she just put up with my classical and instrumental.
Today is Mike's last day of work before his vacation starts. We plan to go gold panning next week for sure, and head out to Thunderbird Falls. The nice thing about living Alaska during the summer is that even though we really don't feel like messing up our savings by taking a "real" vacation, there is a lot to do here.

This is going to be an odd post, mostly because of the gulf between the two albums I'm recommending. Street Sweeper is Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, and Boots Riley of The Coup. Boots Riley wrote the lyrics and did the vocals, and Tom Morello wrote the music. Boots Riley describes it as "The songs are funk/rock anthems for the revolution." It's good stuff, and I'm pre-ordering the album for myself.

The other album recommendation is S.J. Tucker's Quartered: Songs of Palimpsest. You can listen to the album on that link, and pay what you want for it, minimum 6.00. It's lovely and worth it. An album that suits the book very well.
The book, Palimpsest by Catherynne Valente is the most beautiful thing I've read this year. It's a lush descriptive story that's just easy to get lost in. If you haven't read it, I envy you. I envied you as soon as I finished reading because you get to read it for the first time, and I can't anymore. It's that kind of book.

I'm looking forward to Santa Olivia by Jacqueline Carey though. I've got it pre-ordered for my Kindle so I'll have it shortly after I wake up. Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel books are so good and I'm a comic geek, so I'm looking forward to seeing what she does with a superhero and werewolves.

Okay.. well.. I'm done telling you all about things I'm loving now.

Marian Call's album, Got to Fly, is available on iTunes now. If you click here you can hear Vera Flew the Coop, and It Was Good For Too, which is just a great song from Saffron's perspective. The album has a truly great Jayne song on it. The world needed more Jayne songs, and this one has Mike's recommendation too. Which only means something if you know Mike. He's not a music slut like me, and really only wants me to put songs from my "Joss Whedon is My Master Now" playlist on his ipod by request. (and he's made it clear he doesn't want the song "Joss Whedon is My Master Now" on it. I think he's afraid of ukuleles.) He wants those songs.

We were talking about my Joss collection. I haven't yet ripped the audio from Commentary! The Musical for it, but I've got Velvet Chain's Buffy, Vixy and Tony's Apprentice, and of course, P.J. Otaku's Joss Whedon is My Master Now on it, as well Once More With Feeling and other obvious things.

Mike put me in absolute hysterics by saying "Well.. whatever wrinkles your vampire."

Anyway.. yeah. Marian Call is local. You can tell by her very funny song about wanting to be a real Alaskan girl (which is closer to truth than I want to think).. but really, her songs are good, and it's a great album for a Browncoat.

I listen to Coast to Coast AM, or at least part of it almost nightly with Mike. This has led in the past to some hilarious conversations. Like about Eeyore, Patron Saint of Emo Kids everywhere and possibly the Lord of the Undead. He's usually asleep well before the final song. Which has changed to a fun little song by UFO Phil. I wanted the song very much, and finally searched for it today, and it's downloadable from his site. If you like Weird Al, and have a alien fascination like mine, the songs are very cute, and free. Anakin actually made Mike laugh out loud, and he said I could go ahead and put the UFO Phil songs on his ipod.
Since I found the song, I made this spacey printable box.
clicky here )
I did get Wild Fermentation: The Flavor, Nutrition, and Craft of Live-Culture Foods and it's so good. One of my favorite cookbooks ever already. The chapter on bread is a must read for anyone who really loves making bread. Sure, the recipes and detail on how to create a wild yeast sourdough starter are great, but even better is the way Sandor Ellix Katz writes about bread. He appreciates it truly. Since we never get plain old icky regular sandwich bread unless we plan to do bread dough sculpture (you know, crustless nasty white bread mixed with glue), my family really appreciates good bread, and Mike *loves* sourdough. We've always used packaged yeast though, so the idea of growing out own yeast is really.. well.. probably a lot more exciting then it needs to be. But I won't apologize.
Other things that excite me are the really easy and understandable instructions for making vinegar using fruit scraps. Even if it turns out awful, I can make organic vinegar with bits and pieces I'd usually throw away, and use it on my hair if nothing else. If it turns out usable, the different sorts of vinegar I could make from scratch will have lots of uses in cooking and flavoring. I've also always had an interest in home brews and homemade wine, and there are a ton of instructions for that, plus a ginger ale recipe, again, using homemade starter instead of yeast, that E wants to try.
How did our cream soda turn out a couple weeks ago? E, Mike and I all like it, W disliked it, but I think in his case, since he's a really unpicky eater, it's certain types of sour/yeasty he doesn't like. He doesn't like kombucha either, and E likes it quite a bit. Well.. at least I doubt I'll have to worry about him drinking real beer!
We ordered pizza tonight for dinner. Mike says tomorrow will be quite busy, and he see no good reason for me to risk hurting myself tonight. Since you know.. stuffing.
Funny things, at work, Chef offered to roast everyone's turkey, and you'd figure, Chef=went to school to learn to cook, and would do something wonderful... Mike mentioned it, and I said "Sounds good, only drawback I see is not having drippings for gravy." and Mike said quickly "I was stating a fact. He offered. I was NOT asking you if you wanted Chef to make the turkey." Of course I jumped on that, and said consideringly "Well, I guess we could get jarred gravy." and he said "Don't mess with my turkey."
I mentioned to Gina that he's always thankful for the same thing, and she said "You." and I had to say.. "No, the fact I made stuffing." and I told Mike about that conversation. He said "Of course, I'm always happy and grateful you're in my life. But let's be realistic, I'm a fat man. Food is important." Well.. I'd rather someone who enjoyed life, enjoyed food, and didn't have steel willpower, or a masochistic desire to starve. And he really really loves my stuffing.

Well.. first... the albums. I love Jill Tracy, and if you like Amanda Palmer, The Dresden Dolls, Voltaire, or Nicki Jaine, you'll probably like Jill Tracy too. Until Halloween, her album Into the Land of Phantoms is on sale at CDBaby for 9.99 for the disk, or 8.99 for the MP3 version. At 125 Records you can get a signed copy of The Bittersweet Constrain and an unsigned copy Into the Land of Phantoms for 23 dollars. Which is what I got. I had bought The Bittersweet Constrain off itunes the day it came out, and knew I wanted a physical copy of it. This is the first song off that album.
Into the Land of Phantoms is a score composed for the 1922 film Nosferatu and is all instrumental, it's lovely, haunting, and just a bit creepy. A great album for Halloween. Since Nosferatu is available for download and public domain, you could download it and show it with the album playing. Which is kind of what I plan to do.
I drew some wallpapers last week if anyone is interested.
This Little Light of Mine Playing with some text effects.
The wonder of it all Just messing around, but E really likes how this one turned out.
Peace symbol I realized I hadn't drawn a vector peace symbol yet. How silly is that? Fixed now. I have one in vector format and did this with it. Blues and greens
Peace symbol 2 Same thing, just a bit greener.
All images are 1280x1024.
Just for fun, I animated the peace symbol into a small tag.

Well.. I posted about Mike's missing bag on craigslist. And I'm going to make up a couple reward flyers to post in the neighborhood.
Truth is.. if you knew me 15 years ago when I was making mix tapes.. Jill Tracy is one I would so put on the mix tape that got the most circulation. If you knew me way back then, you might remember the one I'm talking about? It had The Tattooed Rose and Bright Lights/Black Leather on it?

Mike got me Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign To Save Darfur . I admit, when it comes to John Lennon, I'm more then a bit biased, but I like the whole album. There are some absolute gems to check out though.
Josh Groban's version of Imagine, just because, wow.. that voice.
Willie Nelson's version which you've probably heard on the commercial. I love Willie, I love John Lennon, and I love that song. That's a can't miss combination.
Imagine by Afroreggae is a nice handling of the song that makes it almost danceable.
Nobody Told Me- Abdel Wright is a bouncy version of the song, and my favorite version on the album, although Big and Rich were a lot better I expected.
Power to the People by DJ Emjay and the Ataris is bouncy, poppy and a whole lot of fun, very different then the original, I love the energy of it.
Watching the Wheels has been my favorite song since it came out. The David Usher version is just amazing, thoughtful and so pretty.
Give Peace a Chance by Aerosmith and featuring the Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars is just great. I'm not a big fan of Aerosmith, and I really disliked their version of Come Together, but this was good. Plus it's a whole lot more understandable then the original!
I'm not sure about Love by Audrey de Montigny. It's very strained and emotional, and a bit of the emotion sounds forced, but it's one of my favorite love songs. I'm still deciding if I love this treatment or if it's just tolerable. I think I'd need to be in the right mood for it.
Jackson Browne did a lovely job on Oh My Love, it's simple and pretty, and I still think it's just about the world's most perfect love song.
Beautiful Boy by Freshly Ground is wonderful too. Sweet and lightly sung, it's very soothing to listen to, almost a lullabye.

This weekend, I didn't get much done I'd planned to. I was in a lot of pain all weekend, in fact, I told Mike last night "We are having chili for dinner." since he knows chili is one of his meals. It turned out wonderful. I had a couple bowls of it with a nice sharp cheddar over it. E was less enthused. She wants beef in her chili, but at least she didn't say "It's really kind of horrible" like she did about my chili con non carne with tvp in it.
I *did* have a couple opportunities potentially come up this weekend, so I'll see how that works out.
Yesterday was a bit frustrating, there were some things I really wanted to do, but the pain levels were high enough I felt very accomplished when I finished the dishes.

You all, as usual, went against the masses last time. Wesley was the overwhelming winner at the store, and Jack won by a 3 to 1 margin here.

I'm following this post with a second so the crochet pattern I'm posting will be all by it's lonesome instead of mixed up with my updates.
there was a pink pink lady )
I've been debating writing instructions for making stitch markers. They are awfully simple, but sometimes step by step instructions are helpful. Do you think I should?

Let's see.. had eldest child over Monday night, and made him his favorite dinner. Prawns with lots of garlic, red onions, crimini mushrooms and butter served over pasta with real cheese on top. Not that icky powdered stuff. It was nice. The next day he and Mike had a Mel Brooks marathon, and he asked me to put the Dead Kennedys on the next mp3 disk I make him. My BOY!
Today I went to HT with the youngest, and she chose herself a pair of footless tights from the clearance racks with skulls and stars. She's mama's girl all the way. With skulls on her legs and her hair tied back with a orange piece of fabric that matches absolutely nothing in her wardrobe. It's perfect.
Summertime, so Mike's working late hours. Not nearly as late as last summer yet at least.
Today, I finally stopped and picked up the new NIN, and while I was at the music shop, I got that itchy feeling, the one that says "check over here" so I checked the S's in the used cd racks and found the Some Girls album I've been looking for. Happiness!!!! I also ordered the new Blackfire album, and made some album recommendations to the girl working there.
I'm paying for it though. I knew I didn't have the spoons, and now I'm wiped, hurting and cranky.
So far, the winning recipe for breakfast cereal for eldest child is the 7grain, but he prefers the raisins/brown sugar/butter powder flavoring stuff/instant milk to the farina. Same price. We've agreed though to keep experimenting with different dried fruits and he did *finish* the cherry. He just thinks he'd like it better with raisins.
The health food store we get our bulk stuff like that from has a dried vegetable soup mix that apparently is absolutely great in ramen. I need to remember to send some to Mel. When I find her bookmarks. The comic book store had these kickass ad bookmarks for some of my favorite comics. This week, they also had "free" download cards for e-music.com for 35 songs (credit card required) with a Marvel theme in lightweight plastic, so I grabbed one for her. Does anyone else want one next time I go in?
Speaking of which.. the store I get my coffee from? Has these neat Japanese pain patches, menthol and camphor, but unlike American patches, the menthol is the strongest, they smell like winter green lifesavers, and are *exactly* the right size for just under my knees, and cost 3.50 for a box of 20. So I'm going to pop a couple of them in her box. I'm posting it here, in case I forget to tell her, so she understands what the white tape things are.

Okay, so if you knew me about when I got my iPod, my excuse for needing one was to make covers for it. Patterns for cozies made in beaded leather, crochet, et cetra. I haven't made one because the cover I use for it has a belt clip. I need a belt clip. I use it when I do dishes and such..

But I was thinking about it, and money clip findings are inexpensive, do you think one would support the weight of an iPod? I think I may try it.

The case I use for my iPod is a super cheap clearance Hot Topic case, HK, that was made for an older iPod so the headphone cord hole is in the wrong place. Mike's case is another cheapie HT clearance thing, his is a Nightmare Before Christmas case. He's got a 20 gig iPod that someone left at the hotel that never got claimed. The maid who found it told him she had no use for it and gave it to him. (they hold things for a while, then whoever found them gets the option of keeping them)

Mike got offered his job. The hotel recently changed ownership so everyone had to apply for their jobs. He'll be making a bit more, and taking over another dept, the other dept is one he wishes were run differently, so he's happy. It's one that he's done before, actually it's his first profession. Security. (Probably why he got asked. He's got *years* of security exp. on his application, he was a cop, a prison guard, a security guard, and asst manager of security in a few of the better hotels up here). I've got mixed feelings. We will see if it winds up meaning a lot more hours, because I hate it when he's at work all the time. At least he'll be the boss so they can't make him work holidays. That was what I hated most about him being security before, he always had to work on Wm's birthday. (NYE)

Songs I was playing
You know, I completely forgot about this until one of them came up.

1.Fence- Blackfire
2.There's Mean Things Happening in this World -Blackfire
3.Diamonds and Rust Joan Baez
4.Lie to Me-DM
5.Whipped-Tuuli

The Blackfire songs are available on their website.
Blackfire.net, I would suggest, if you like this kind of music, buying the album, it's not very expensive, it's an indie company, and it's so good. It's one of my favorites to listen to when I'm working out or cleaning. They aren't just punk, they aren't just NA, they honestly are that good consistently on the album. The song Exile which I think is also available for download on the site is one that makes me cry almost everytime I hear it.

Meme time.
Pick one line that means something to you from the next 5 songs that turn up on shuffle on your mp3 player.
Post the lines.
Let people try to guess which song it is. Googling is cheating

(kind of crippled by still not having gotten over to my brother's to fix my computer!)
1)The only thing holding up a wall are the people who don't tear it down.
2)Organise my brother and sister, we'll win this world, this world again.
3)You were so good with words and at keeping things vague
4)When I say innocent, I should say naive.
5)Your constant need for order has made you such a bore.

I'll screen the answers. Anyone who gets 1, 2 or 5 I'll make an icon, blinkie, bead or crochet graph for.
