The concert yesterday afternoon went pretty darn well, I thought. Just before that, I caught the first half of Luke Ski's, and he was in fine form and having fun. After, I hung out in the hall for awhile, talking to many nice people (including Bob Passavoy, who I never see enough of). Then I went back up to the room for awhile.

I'd got it into my head that the Masquerade was at 9:00. Well, at 8:20 I was getting ready to go down, and I looked at the program book to see where it was, and discovered that it was at 8:00.

I was downstairs by 8:25. Got backstage literally three minutes before I had to go on. Fortunately, it was before, so I got up there smoothly and got right into it... as it was announced that the masquerade winners would be announced after 9:45.

So I'm suddenly committed to an hour and fifteen.

Noooooooo problem. Rocked the house. I've done almost four hours of concert this weekend, with only two repeats ("Two Guys Kissin'" and "Rocket Ride").

Then I went to the open filk for a bit. Bill Roper, Kiki, Matt, others. Some guy noodling very well with a banjo. A new kid, Ray I'm pretty sure his name was, wrote a song yesterday morning, and he's got a very soft voice but the song was good and his guitaring is also good. Another new person, a young girl about the same age, did a couple of songs I presume are some kind of alternative folk-rock. Nice voice, good stuff.

Today: packing up, hanging out by the dealers' room for awhile, Closing Ceremonies, home.

How's by you?

brown rice topped with black beans, tomato flowers, a cherry pepper, and seasonings. i should of put the seasonings under the tomatoes, in hindsight.

carrots with blue cheese to dip, and yogurt with pomegranate seeds (more seeds under yogurt at well)

simple, but should be good, and was very fast to make.

I don't if any of you have heard of this place, but you must certainly try it. Mom let me buy about 60 dollars of yarn on her credit card, whereas they would have usually have been at least 100 dollars

I swear I thought I was dreaming when I saw this, I nearly passed out, just a little!

Hello everyone. I really want to make French macaroons and I was wondering if anyone here has ever made them before? Are they hard to make? Also what recipe did you use? Thanks in advance!

Question on screencapping (and yes I've taken a look thru some of the memories). I'm using Mac OS X 10.5 and I'm trying ot make animated gifs. I downloaded VLC as it seems to be the recommended screen-capping program for Macs.

Question: How do I automatically screencap a particular clip within a video? (Lets say a 30s clip out of an episode of The Office?) Apparently, only older versions of VLC have this capability?

If there is another program that recommended over VLC, I'm definitely willing to try it out!

Any help would be great,

Thanks!

Hi all,

I really, really need some advice/help on this issue. I don't know how to work with my partner on this issue and I don't know how to tell him how I feel, because I DON'T know how to articulate it. Occasionally, I bleed profusely during sex. We usually don't notice until we are done. But, it is always a lot, bright red. Tonight I got all dolled up, ready for action, but he was worried about "down there" and feeling uncomfortable. I get it - but I don't know how to solve it. We have been together a long time, and he said he's never had this happen with any partners prior to me (and neither have I). I just don't know what to do or say - it makes me sad and embarrassed. Of course, we both want to have sex - but I think he is worried that he is hurting me or something. I told him he is not, but he has a "thing" about blood (which I respect - I probably would too!). I just feel so helpless. I have seen my doctor and we have done EVERYTHING to "diagnose" what is causing this ("nothing"). I don't know what to do or how to fix this. We both have a strong attraction to each other and I wish I could just fix this. But, I don't want to discount his discomfort. This is so hard and so sad for me. I feel like something is wrong with me, but I can't figure out what it is, and it is impacting my sexual relationship with my partner.

Advice? Help? Anyone? I live in Denver - doctor recommendations?

Okay guys. For about a month now I've been dealing with an itchy, burning, sore vagina. I got treated for BV by my doctor, developed a yeast infection and took tons of diflucan and monistat (again, at the behest of my doctor) and the symptoms got better but never fully went away.

My doctor then did a cotton swab test and diagnosed me with vulvodynia, and perscribed me with anti-depressants (though she didn't freaking tell me they were anti-depressants. I just got home and opened the walgreens prescription bag and was like...what the hell?)

Anyway, I didn't take them. I went to a real gyno (the other doctor was a family practitioner) who ran tests for BV, yeast, and trich, which all came back negative. I've been tested for every STD under the sun now and all the tests were negative too.

So she gave me another antibiotic cream to fight a bacteria call mobiluncus that she said she might, possibly, barely even seen in my vagina. What she actually said was, "I looked for the mobiluncus, because that's really common when you've had so much medicine down there. I didn't really see it. It actually looks like everything just kinda dead down there. But I'm putting you on this antibiotic to make sure."

So...what the hell? Inside my vagina feels pretty much fine. My vulva is itchy (and sometimes this itching spreads beyond my vulva to my pubic hair and anal opening) and my vaginal opening is really sore to the touch. Really sore. Like, I could have sex, probably, but it freaking stings. (and I'm not having sex, trust me. haven't since this started... ::sad face).

Does anyone have a similar experience? I'm on my second day of anti-biotics and it seems like the itchy might MIGHT be going down and the right side of my vaginal opening might be ever so slightly less sore. But it's still sore and painful.

Does this sound like vulvodynia? Can yeast infection tests come back negative even if you've got a yeast infection?

HELP! :(

Hmm... I wonder if that means I can swim now? I never could before, but if it looks like a duck...

I quit reading several years ago now. If you were to ask me, I'd tell you that my ability to write has gone steadily downhill since.

Four weeks after the first attempt, I'm going to give running another try this Monday. Same plan as last time except this time I'm terribly nervous. If it hurts me that badly again, I'll never give it another shot. I don't know why it wouldn't hurt me that badly either. It's the exact same after all.

I'm amazed by how bad last year must have been at the store. I do know that November was when we first felt the downturn. That was followed by a winter of dismal sales totals unlike any since the first we were open. This year, even with being closed two days that we would've been open last year, even considering we've decided sales are just so bad it's finally time to give up and close, my sales are up a third over the first half of last November. It's hard to imagine. I don't really remember it as being that painful, but it must've been awful.

I know I had one more thing, but it vanished from memory. I really need to stop sniffing the incense. Later Mr. LJ.

A couple of weeks ago, I asked for help putting together a steampunk outfit for a Halloween costume. I didn't have much time/money to do too many additions, but I think it turned out okay anyway. Today, some friends of mine and myself got together for a photo shoot at a local college campus. I thought you might be interested in seeing the finished product, though I do apologize that I'm not necessarily the best model.

Fairly large pictures behind the cut. )
Thanks for looking and let me know what you think!

guys! hey guys! i found my cervix just now! how exciting is that? i've NEVER been able to find it before - i have short fingers and i'd end up making myself feel really claustrophobic trying to reach it. but i'm due to start my period tomorrow and my cervix is way lower and harder AND I FELT IT, GUYS. IT EXISTS. IT'S THERE. it really is like the tip of a nose, and then there's the little indent, and oh my gosh bodies are so cool! i really wanted to figure out what it felt like/where it was because i'm about to buy a menstrual cup and thought that getting more in touch with what's going on in there was probably a good plan ;)

anyway this is more of a celebration post than it is a question. but has anyone else had trouble finding their cervix?

I'm starting to think of the holiday season and was planning on giving my boyfriend (a 1L) a coffee-themed gift.

Does anyone belong to any monthly coffee clubs? The kind of thing where you sign up and they send you a different kind of coffee each month? Or something similar- maybe with fresh fruits and veggies? I've never subscribed to one or known anyone who has. Thoughts, suggestions? Any specific companies that are better than others?

It's been eight days now that I stopped using shampoo or conditioner.

To make the "no-poo" transition easier I replaced shampoo with egg yolks.
Here is what I've been doing:

I throw two egg yolks into a little container and let it sink around for a little while.
I scrub my hair with water and do my usual routine.
After that I massage the yolk into my scalp and wait 15 minutes.
By then the yolk has hardened on my scalp, and I need to let my hair run under hot water for a few seconds.
I rinse it off well and wrap my hair in a towel.

I've read a handful of posts with some negative comments about this egg yolk routine, but so far for me it's been working fine. The yolk leaves me hair very soft and shiny.
However my hair is a little on the frizzy side.
I used to 'suffer' a lot from dandruff, but now that I stopped using shampoo I haven't had that problem.

My hair reaches my shoulders and it's quite wavy.

I wanted to know what I can do for the frizz to go away.

:)
