Yesterday while I was going to the local Asian market (it's about a mile away) I found a 4 leaf clover while I was walking. A few minutes later, a very happy, very tall man was walking in the opposite direction down the sidewalk in that bounding walk that very tall men with very long legs have. He smiled at me, and said "Hi Baby!" but you know, not in a sleazy way, because really, who says hi baby to middle aged women with canes in a sleazy way? Anyway.. I gave him the clover and he was very happy and said thank you, that he could always use some luck and that he was going to meeting, so I smiled and said "Have a lovely day!" and kept walking.
I thought to myself it was wonderful to make someone so happy and that made me happy.
I got my mochi flour and coconut milk, then started towards home. My ipod played songs I loved, some old delta blues, some 80s hair metal, some synthpop, it was a fun walk on a very cloudy day. It hurt, but I was happy. I think I'm going to make a 4 leaf clover coloring page later.
Actually, just all round, today was lovely. Someone donated a fair amount to my site which helps out a lot, my new Vine selections came in the mail.
On the way home, I found a second 4 leaf clover.
I was telling Mike about it, and told him I made a strange man lucky. Then I told him the whole story. I said "You might have done the same thing." and realized, no, he wouldn't have. But it would have been funny if he had. I think strange people would accept a 4 leaf clover from a man his size completely differently than they do from a woman my size.
An old friend posted on her fb page 5 things that reminded her of her best friend, and at the top wrote a quick note that said "Shala, Guess who?" and after careful consideration, I could only come up with one possibility. This guy we both knew. Of course, with the guess who, your first thought is yourself, but these choices? Unless I've forgotten a lot more than I know I have.. (but if you've forgotten, would you know you had?) weren't at all me. Except maybe 2 of them. I was talking to Mike and E about it at the grocery store. E said "I would say a banana on a hippopotamus reminds me of you." Well.. that's certainly random and very giggle worthy.
Mel asked me, and I said glitter and paper and all things papery and glittery. Roses make her think of me.
For my not-Mike best friend, I chose these things.
1. easy bake oven
2. Jensen Ackles
3. brazillian waxing
4. shopping
5. Haunted by the thought of you - Jill Tracy
Mike was talking about the past, and said we would have been beatniks or hippies, or that for a while people would have thought we were pinkos. I had to giggle about it, because Mike is so very straight looking once you get past his collection of superhero logo shirts. It may be true though.
Well.. today I need to bead, if Dad remembers to send some coffee cans over, make laundry detergent, draw some 4 leaf clover coloring pages and wax my brows. Oh yeah, and lift weights.
